Melanoma Patients Australia regularly collaborates with academic, clinical and sector partners to advance patient-centred melanoma research. Together, we work to ensure that the latest evidence is translated into compassionate, high-quality supportive care services and programs for people affected by melanoma.

Finding Information About Clinical Trials and Research Opportunities

Access to clinical trials can provide some people with melanoma the opportunity to explore emerging treatments and contribute to advancing melanoma care. There are several trusted ways to find information about current clinical trials and research. You can also ask your doctor (see the clinical trials section of our resource Preparing for your appointment: Questions for your doctor and appointment checklist) or you can explore the following: 

• Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA) maintains a comprehensive and regularly updated list of their melanoma clinical trials. Visit their website to explore available trials and eligibility criteria. 

• Australian Clinical Trials, an Australian Government initiative to provide information and resources to participants, healthcare providers, researchers and industry about taking part in, accessing and running clinical trials. Find out more here. 

• Melanoma and Skin Cancer Trials (MASC) is an independent, not‑for‑profit clinical trials group that collaborates with leading researchers to design and deliver clinical trials aimed at improving the prevention, detection and treatment of melanoma and skin cancer. • Australian and international clinical trial registries, such as the Australian New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry (ANZCTR) and ClinicalTrials.gov, allow you to search for melanoma studies by location, treatment type, or stage of disease. 

• Teletrial is a proven model that connects regional, rural, and remote clinical trial sites with a primary site using digital telecommunication. This approach builds local capacity, promotes equitable access to trials, and brings research closer to where patients live.
