John Lee Appointed New Chair

Melanoma Patients Australia is delighted to announce the appointment of John Lee as the new Chair of the Melanoma Patients Australia Board.

John will succeed the current Chair Marie-Claire Cheron-Sauer who has made a wonderful contribution over the past nine years including four years as Deputy Chair and two years in the role of Chair during a period of change that has set Melanoma Patients Australia up for success in the future. Marie-Claire will continue to advocate and support the work of Melanoma Patients Australia and its vision of “creating a world where no one affected by melanoma walks alone”.

John brings a wealth of experience to the Board, having worked with all levels of government and served on a variety of boards including the not for profit sector. He holds a degree in Health Education and was recently the Deputy Chair of Health and Wellbeing Queensland. Additionally, he has served on the Western Sydney Area Health Board, including Westmead Hospital.

John has also contributed to several other boards, including the Mary Mackillop Foundation, Australian Sports Commission, Australian Advertising Standards Bureau, and has previously served on the Melanoma Patients Australia Board and is therefore very familiar with Melanoma Patients Australia’s important work.

John has family and friends who have been diagnosed with early-stage melanoma, and he has provided them with support and care during their journey, providing a personal perspective into the need for patient and carer support through the diagnosis, treatment and recovery journey.

With John’s leadership and experience, and the collective efforts of the Board, Melanoma Patients Australia will continue to make significant strides in supporting melanoma patients and their families and expanding our reach as the national, patient centred organisation focused on ensuring that no one impacted by melanoma walks alone.

Please welcome John Lee to Melanoma Patients Australia.
